Interview: An Angel Investor, Mark Alessi, Executive Director LI Angel Networkon Got Invention Radio

 

Angel Inventor Mark Alessi will be discussing what Angel Inventors are, what they do, when to seek them, how to find them and what to expect!

Marc S. Alessi is the Executive Director of the Long Island Angel Network, a member of the Long Island Software and Technology Network, The Center for New Technologies, and the New York State Bar Association’s Intellectual Property section.

Mr. Alessi is of counsel to the law firm of Jaspan Schlesinger LLP, in the Firm’s Corporate, Municipal, Land Use and Real Estate Practice Groups. Mr. Alessi joined the firm in 2007 as part time of counsel, while also serving as a member of the New York State Assembly, and January 1, 2011 he expanded his practice to full time with the firm after a distinguished career in government.

Mr. Alessi is the Chairman of the Brookhaven Town Democratic Committee and a member of the Board of Directors for the Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. Mr. Alessi was elected to the New York State Assembly in 2005 representing the First Assembly District which included the Towns of Brookhaven, Riverhead, Southold and Shelter Island. Mr. Alessi served three terms in the New York State Legislature, serving as Chairman of the Sub Committee on the Emerging Workforce he focused on job creation through creating a better entrepreneurial and economic environment for technology transfer and commercialization. He helped rewrite the New York State Tax Code in order to grow a regional innovation economy. In addition to his subcommittee, Mr. Alessi was a member of the Energy Committee; and the Sub Committee on Alternative Energy, the Committee on Labor, the Committee on Transportation, the Committee on Local Governments, the Committee on Agriculture, and the Committee on Aging.

Mr. Alessi is an active angel investor, and has been a serial entrepreneur, with his involvement with a number of start up companies in the service sector.

Mr. Alessi has been recognized as one the most influential Long Island business leaders under 40 years old by the Long Island Business News (2011), and was awarded Man of the Year by the Suffolk County Police Conference (2010) and by the Long Island Farm Bureau (2009).
